Sa silhouette est tout \u00e0 fait remarquable. On dit de lui qu&rsquo;il a constamment un ch\u00e2teau accroch\u00e9 \u00e0 la queue de son cheval. Il aurait fait construire en toute ill\u00e9galit\u00e9 le ch\u00e2teau du Haut-K\u0153nigsbourg sur les terres de l&rsquo;abbaye de Li\u00e8pvre. devient\u00a0 allemande. Le 4 mai 1899, le ch\u00e2teau, alors en ruine, et les terres sommitales l&rsquo;entourant sont offerts par la ville de S\u00e9lestat \u00e0 l&#8217;empereur Guillaume II de Hohenzollern qui souhaite y cr\u00e9er un mus\u00e9e. La ville garde le bois du domaine du ch\u00e2teau pour son exploitation. L&rsquo;id\u00e9e de Guillaume II est de cr\u00e9er un mus\u00e9e \u00e0 la gloire de du\u00a0monde germanique.<\/p>\n<p>La restauration du ch\u00e2teau fort est confi\u00e9e en 1900 \u00e0 un architecte et arch\u00e9ologue berlinois. Il commence par le d\u00e9blaiement du site et les relev\u00e9s des anciennes constructions. La restauration s&rsquo;\u00e9talera de 1901 \u00e0 1908. En effet, l&rsquo;objectif de l&rsquo;architecte est de le restaurer tel qu&rsquo;il se pr\u00e9sentait aux alentours de l&rsquo;an 1500. Guillaume II vient r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement visiter le chantier, il est log\u00e9 dans la gare de Saint-Hippolyte reconstruite sp\u00e9cialement pour l&rsquo;accueillir en 1903. Finalement, le nouvel \u00e9difice du Haut-K\u0153nigsbourg est inaugur\u00e9 le 13 mai 1908, mais les finitions et achats de collections se poursuivirent jusqu&rsquo;en 1918.
